On Saturday 25th February a large group of members and friends of the Didcot-Meylan Twinning Association got together for supper in Brightwell Village Hall. This was a bit of a departure from the usual bowling evening, but the spirit of competition was not entirely absent. On arrival, everyone was handed a pencil and paper and invited to identify a number of well-known French people from their pictures. Although most people recognised the politicians and film stars, sportsmen and historical figures (Napoleon apart) presented more problems. The eventual winner was Geoff Oldham who displayed an impressively broad knowledge.
The invitation to bring and share supper resulted in an impressive display of food: the only question was whether you could actually eat a little taster of everything: and then the desserts were put out! After supper there was another opportunity to test your knowledge of France with a general knowledge quiz and once again, Geoff’s table showed that when it comes to France they certainly know their stuff.
So, thanks to all the people who came and made the evening such a success and especially to Sheralyn, who once again arranged the hall booking and was on hand to make sure that the evening went smoothly
