Youth Barbeque
17 June 2005
After a week of glorious sunshine the day of the barbecue we had thunder, lightning and
torrential rain! Our aim was to bring together the young people who had
taken part in the Meylan youth visit, so they could maintain contact between
visits. We had the bonus of one of the French girls coming as she was
staying with her host family again. Five families met up plus some members
of the twinning committee. Noble volunteers braved the rain to cook the
sausages and burgers, however we should confess we ate inside! There was
quite a feast as everyone contributed to the meal with salads or desserts.
Unfortunately 'boules' were forgotten because of the weather, but two brave
boys did have an enjoyable dip and there was table tennis, table football
and darts in the garage - under cover! It was great to see the children
mixing so well and having a good time. We hope they will all keep in touch.
